David Roddy, the former Colorado State sensation, is returning to his home state with a bang! The Denver Nuggets have secured the talented forward on a two-way contract, as reported by The Denver Gazette and HoopsHype. But here's where it gets intriguing... Roddy's journey to the Nuggets has been anything but ordinary.
After being drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2022 NBA Draft, Roddy embarked on a whirlwind adventure. He was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies almost immediately, then to the Phoenix Suns midway through his second season. Last season, he showcased his versatility with the Hawks, 76ers, and Rockets, playing a total of 168 games and averaging solid numbers. And this is the part most fans might have missed—Roddy's consistent performance across three seasons, averaging 6.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and an assist, with a 42.1% field goal percentage and a 30.2% success rate from beyond the arc.
Before joining the Nuggets, Roddy honed his skills with the Toronto G League team. To accommodate this move, the Nuggets waived Tamar Bates, who had been signed after going undrafted from Missouri but was unable to play due to an injury.
Roddy, the 2022 Mountain West Player of the Year, will be a valuable addition to the Nuggets' forward rotation, especially with the recent absence of key players like Aaron Gordon and Peyton Watson. He joins a select group of Denver's two-way contract players, including Colorado's own K.J. Simpson and Curtis Jones, for the remainder of the season.
