Brace yourselves: a major UFC Vegas 112 matchup has been scrubbed, reshaping the strawweight picture. A top-tier clash between Amanda Lemos and Gillian Robertson, both ranked in the top 10, will not take place this Saturday at UFC APEX because Lemos withdrew due to illness. The promotion later described the reason as a medical issue.
Robertson broke the news first via an Instagram Story, confirming Lemos’ withdrawal. The exact nature of Lemos’ illness remains undisclosed at this time.
Lemos sits at No. 5 in MMA Fighting Global Rankings, while Robertson is No. 10. The cancellation robs both fighters of a chance to surge in the 115-pound title hunt. Lemos, who has alternated wins and losses over her last six bouts and recently dropped a decision to Tatiana Suarez, did still record a notable victory over current champion Mackenzie Dern in February 2024. A title bid, had she earned it, would have marked her second shot at UFC gold after her loss to Zhang Weili at UFC 292.
Robertson, having moved down from 125 pounds, has been on a hot streak, winning five of six since the move and racking up four straight wins. Her most recent performance came in May, where she stopped Marina Rodriguez via knockout in the second round. Robertson also holds a distinctive place in UFC history as the record holder for the most submission finishes by a woman and the most wins by finish in the women’s flyweight division.
With this change, UFC Vegas 112 continues with 12 bouts on the slate, anchored by a men’s flyweight title-qualifying showdown between Brandon Royval and Manel Kape.
