Wyndham Clark's Mixed Feelings: Brooks Koepka's PGA Tour Return (2026)

The golf world is abuzz with the return of Brooks Koepka to the PGA Tour, and one player who is feeling the heat is Wyndham Clark. In a recent interview, Clark expressed his mixed feelings about Koepka's comeback, highlighting the controversial nature of the situation. While he's happy to see Koepka back on the tour, he also believes the five-time major champion should have faced more consequences for initially joining LIV Golf.

"I personally really like Brooks, and I think it's ultimately really good for the PGA Tour," Clark said. "But also, a guy that had an opportunity to go to LIV, it's kind of frustrating that he's able to get the cake and also eat it."

Clark's frustration stems from the fact that Koepka signed with LIV Golf in June 2022 for a reported contract worth over $100 million, only to leave in December with a year left on the deal. The PGA Tour's response was to implement a new Returning Member Program, which includes financial penalties for Koepka, such as forfeiting player equity shares, ineligibility for the $100 million FedEx Cup bonus program in 2026, and a $5 million donation to charity.

"It's a harsh punishment financially," Koepka told the Associated Press. "I understand exactly why the tour did that -- it's meant to hurt. But it [his departure] hurt a lot of people."

Despite his reservations, Clark acknowledges that top players like Koepka returning to the PGA Tour can only benefit the sport. "At the end of the day, I want whatever is best for the PGA Tour, and I think if guys come back, especially top guys like Brooks, it's only going to help the tour, which is ultimately going to help me," he said.

This debate raises an interesting question for golf fans: Is it fair for players to switch tours and still reap the benefits of their original tour? The controversy surrounding Koepka's return is a testament to the complex emotions and opinions within the golf community, leaving fans to ponder the implications and share their thoughts in the comments.
